Photography

Hi!

My relationship with photography began long before my career did.
As a ten-year-old armed with a hand-me-down Ensign Selfix antique camera, I converted my bedroom into a darkroom and started teaching myself the alchemy of light, chemistry and storytelling. What began as childhood obsession evolved into a professional life that has spanned fashion studios, processing labs, television technology and now high-end portrait, landscape and equine work.

My approach blends technical fluency with an instinctive feel for people. The technical side of the industry has always excited me as much as the creative but what I really enjoy is the personal side — working with people. The human connection has become a hallmark of my work: an authentic rapport that lets clients relax and reveal their real selves.

Working with state-of-the-art medium-format tools, I have developed an ability to see striking images in unexpected places. My sessions often feel more like a conversation than a photoshoot — and that’s deliberate. By understanding the person in front of the lens, I try to unveil the story behind the portrait, producing imagery that is refined, modern and unmistakably genuine.

Every client is given a secure, personalised web gallery after the shoot — a simple, elegant way to view your photographs, shortlist favourites, download them, or order prints and frames whenever you’re ready.

A man with gray hair and a beard laughing with his eyes closed, standing in front of a computer and microphone in a recording studio.
Two men smiling and posing for a photo in a narrow, brick-lined underground passageway. One man is wearing a straw hat and light-colored vest, and the other is wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a black T-shirt with a graphic design. The setting appears to be a basement or cellar with exposed pipes and electrical wiring overhead.
A man in black athletic clothing with arms outstretched, smiling, standing in front of a large group of runners in a park on a cloudy day.
A priest wearing white robes and a colorful rainbow stole stands with arms open in front of a stone church entrance, nighttime.

Equine

Horses have always held my attention — not just for their strength and elegance, but for the loyalty, intelligence, and quiet humour that defines their character. My work focuses on the relationship between horse and rider, documenting the connection, trust, and individuality that make each partnership unique.

“Ed is brilliant. He takes the most beautiful photos and sees things that others don't notice. When possible, his images are captured very early in the morning, which lends a quality of light that's pure and sometimes haunting. As a person, he's really easy to work with and nothing is too much work. A professional in every way, he's also a top bloke. I thoroughly recommend him.” - Heather Morley

FAQs

How much do you charge?

Probably less than you might expect. Every project is different, and the cost depends on what you want to achieve and how much time and preparation is involved. Once I understand the scope — whether it’s a fast editorial shoot, a detailed portrait session, or a larger commercial brief — I can give you a clear, tailored quote.

I’m always happy to discuss rates, options, and the level of work required.
Just send me a message through the Let’s Work Together section and we can take it from there.

Whereabouts do you operate?

Most of my work takes place in London and the Home Counties, but I’m happy to travel wherever the project requires. If the location is further afield, travel time and costs may be added to your quote — I’ll always make this clear upfront so there are no surprises.

Do you charge to retouch/post produce images?

No — absolutely not. There are no hidden charges. Your quote always covers fully finished, professionally retouched images as standard..

Do you use AI?

Yes and no. I don’t create or generate images using AI — everything you see is photographed for real. However, like most modern photographers, I do use AI-powered tools within my editing workflow for tasks such as object removal and fine adjustments. These tools help refine the final image without changing its authenticity.

How do I get my photos?

AAfter your photo session, I’ll send you a private link to your personal gallery. Only you and I can access this page. From there, you can download your images at sizes suitable for print or social media, and you can also order prints, frames, or other products directly from your gallery.
